PRINCETON, New Jersey (Ticker) - Snowball fight 2002
will showcase two young, skinny, Asian teams as they do battle in
the heart of Lake Tahoe. The matchup marks the debut of up and coming
SoCal stars Kevin Ni, Minh Tran, Czrena Truong, and Robert "Don't
hate me because women pass over you to come after me" Kong. The
East Coast/NorCal team boasts prospects Dave Follette, Kat Liu, Weili
Shaw, and Lucy Ngai. The battle will be a close one, but here's what
it will come down to:
Veterans
The East Coast/NorCal team has an 8-7 advantage in the number of returners.
However, since Lim "5 foot" Cheu had been counted in the East
Coast/NorCal totals, the two teams are even in this aspect. Longtime
East Coast/Nor Cal friends Dave Kong and Steve Chuang will do battle
against SoCal counterparts Mike Chien and Hubert Hwang. In an exclusive
interview, Chuang commented, "After all these years, we got Hubie
and that computer geek Mike figured out. They're creatures of habit,
and they've got a habit of losing."
Big Men
Big man Howard Fong has a slight weight advantage over SoCal's Robert
Kong. Scouts have reported, however, that Kong has joined UCSD's Ballroom
Dance Club, and his ability to be light on his feet may give the SoCal
team the advantage in this category.
Ladies
SoCal seems already to have the big lead in this category. Kate "often
picked over guys in choosing teams" Dinh has shown that she can run,
dodge and throw as well as anyone. Yi-Fang Tsai will be ready to go,
seeing as she practices by pegging little kids with socks as a parks
and rec counselor. Rounding out the SoCal women is Czrena Truong,
whose hostility rating of 10 speaks for itself. NorCal/East Coast
females Sherri Dairiki and Lucille Ngai have a troubling combined
hostility rating of 2, and a combined friendliness rating of 19. Kat
Liu is looking for a big debut, but it may not be enough as the SoCal
girls will have the upper hand. HOWEVER, wild card Christine Feng's
bid to join the Ski Trip and the East Coast team may tip the scales
in favor of East Coast/NorCal. Feng's sheer presence - towering at
5 feet, 10 inches - will be a morale boost to the team. Feng's decision
on whether or not to go has yet to be finalized.
Closing Remarks
Sources say that SoCal
has been furiously developing strategies to employ in the battle.
When asked about preparations, SoCal member Hubert Hwang commented,
"Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8am-1pm, we cut class...
and sleep in. And eat... lunch, sometimes..." While SoCal has been
hanging out in 70 degree weather, East Coast Princeton students have
been suffering the wrath of East Coast weather, and will be well acclimated
to the contest conditions. Will SoCal's quickness and female power
be enough for them to overcome NorCal's size and heavy preparation?
Only time will tell.
